<aside> 🚲 Climate adaptation involves adjusting systems and processes to better cope with the effects of climate change, while climate resilience refers to the ability of communities, systems, and individuals to withstand and recover from these impacts. At SUSTERA Foundation, we're dedicated to enhancing both through various initiatives.
Our work in Trivandrum, particularly post the Okhi cyclone, includes the "Changing Coast Changing Lives" campaign and the Coastal Champions Program, which gained global recognition for addressing coastal issues. The Coastal Champions Program trains youths for three months in organizing campaigns and building coastal climate resilience.
Recognizing the mental toll of climate change, we've also launched a pioneering program on mental health and climate change, bringing experts and community voices together to address post-disaster mental health issues. Our GenRe project includes a disaster relief fund used for aid during floods in Chennai, Odisha, and Assam. Additionally, events like "Rooting for Resilience" and "Chai Conversations and Change" facilitate networking among climate action youths, fostering a community of trained climate leaders and partners committed to resilience and adaptation projects.

Climate resilient development can help build capacity for climate action, including contributing to reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, while enabling the implementation of adaptation options that enhance social, economic and ecological resilience to climate change as the prospect of crossing the 1.5°C global warming level in the early 2030s approaches. -IPCC
