In the face of escalating climate uncertainties, the backbone of community resilience lies in the local community, their proactive local government institution, and the vigor of youth. However, the increasingly complex challenges, from pandemics to climate disasters, demand a new breed of leaders equipped to lead communities towards swift recovery and long-term climate resilience. This is the essence of SUSTERA's Climate Leadership Program (CLP), a transformative initiative aimed at nurturing a cadre of climate leaders across India.
CLP focuses on empowering youth and communities to build resilience against climate uncertainties. Their flagship Climate Leadership Program (CLP) is a 12-week, fully-funded, hybrid initiative that equips 30 youths per batch to become community changemakers. Participants engage with experts across fields like agriculture, waste, and energy, and partake in specially designed activities, including a 3-day offline gathering. Tailored to each state and conducted in local languages, CLP aims to foster a train-the-trainer approach, creating a network of climate leaders who inspire others and contribute to multi-level climate governance and decision-making with their grassroots knowledge.
To further our impact, we've developed the CLPx program, where 'x' signifies a focused action aspect of climate change. Currently, we offer modules for ecosystem restoration and circular economy.
