The Climate Leadership Program X on Circular Economy is a specialized course designed to educate and empower 40 young leaders from Kerala. It is a fully funded program for individuals aged 18 to 35 that aims to provide a foundational understanding of circular economy principles and intends to take action for environmental issues associated with resource consumption. The program aligns with India's LIFE (Lifestyle for Environment) program, emphasising sustainable living and environmental stewardship.
The course is based on three principles of circular economy:
<aside> 💡 What is Circular Economy? A circular economy is an economic system aimed at minimizing waste and making the most of resources. This regenerative approach contrasts with the traditional linear economy, which has a 'take, make, dispose' model of production. As India's resource consumption grows, adopting a circular economy is crucial for sustainable development. It offers a way to increase resource efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and foster innovation and economic growth within the country.

It's essential for youth across various domains to understand the circular economy due to its role in fostering sustainable growth. As the next generation of leaders, they will face the challenge of balancing economic development with environmental stewardship. Knowledge of circular economy principles equips them to innovate in ways that extend product lifecycles, minimize waste, and transform byproducts into valuable resources, ensuring a healthier environment. This understanding is critical in India, where rapid growth and resource demands must be met with sustainable solutions to preserve the country's ecological and economic future.
